Are you tired of shaving and plucking unwanted body hair, only to see temporary results? If so, you are not alone. Many individuals choose to undergo GentleLase treatments for long-term hair removal. This treatment safely removes unwanted hair without causing damage to delicate pores. Plus, it is quick and easy and requires no downtime, so you can resume your everyday activities right away. Our dermatologists are highly skilled in laser hair removal and aim to provide each of our patients with beautiful, long-lasting results.
What is GentleLase?
GentleLase is a laser treatment used to remove unwanted body hair. It can be used on any area of the body but is most commonly used on the face, chest, back, underarms, legs and bikini area. This system uses a long-pulse high energy alexandrite laser to aim gentle beams of light at the targeted areas. Treatment is safe and only targets the unwanted hair, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. GentleLase is able to provide both men and women with fast and reliable results, diminishing unwanted hair for good!
Who is a Good Candidate for GentleLase?
The GentleLase is an excellent modality to treat unwanted hair in a variety of skin types. Tanned skin is best avoided before any hair laser removal therapy. Dark and coarse hairs respond the best. Your dermatology provider will assess your skin and hair to determine if this laser would be most appropriate. If you are interested in long-term hair removal, contact our office today to schedule a consultation. During your consultation, your dermatologist will determine if this treatment is a good fit for you and your hair removal goals.
What to Expect During GentleLase Treatments?
Before your GentleLase treatment, you will need to stop plucking or waxing hair, using tanning lotions, and using salicylic or glycolic acid on the treatment site for several weeks to ensure the best possible results. You will be directed to shave the area two days before your treatment so only a light stubble is left.
During treatment, the GentleLase laser will be moved over the treatment area. Patients describe it feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin. This laser is also equipped with an auto skin-cooling mechanism to protect your skin and ensure you are completely comfortable.
There is no downtime needed after treatment. The skin may be sensitive, and patients should avoid waxing and plucking, though shaving can be resumed after 4-5 days. You should also avoid sun exposure, as this can cause changes in pigmentation. While some progress may be noticeable after just one treatment, multiple treatment sessions (4-6) are often needed to see the best results. Treatments are commonly spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
