What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX is an injectable treatment used to soften the appearance of wrinkles and lines in the forehead and around the eyes. It is made up of botulinum toxin type A, which blocks nerve impulses to certain muscles, causing them to relax. This, in turn, reduces the look of dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements. BOTOX can be used to soften the look of:

• Crow’s feet
• Forehead creases
• Glabellar lines or the “11s” (between the eyebrows)

Who is a Good Candidate for BOTOX®?

Adults 18 years or older who wish to lessen the appearance of dynamic wrinkle lines can benefit from BOTOX injections. If you are physically healthy with a positive attitude and realistic expectations for your results, you are a great candidate!

What to Expect During BOTOX® Treatments?

Your dermatologist will inject the BOTOX using a small syringe at strategic points to achieve your desired outcome. The number of injections that you need will depend on your desired results. Treatment is quick, taking about 10 minutes to complete. 

BOTOX® Recovery

There is no downtime required following BOTOX injections, however, you will need to avoid exercise and other strenuous activities for the rest of the day. Patients may experience mild redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection sites, which will dissipate with time. Be sure not to massage or rub the treatment areas after injection, as it could cause the BOTOX to spread to another area of the face.

Final results are seen 3-7 days after treatment and will last anywhere from 3-4 months. To maintain your results, repeat treatments will be needed. Simply contact our office to schedule your return visit.
