What is a Gap Year?
Approximately 50% of current pre-professional healthcare students opt to take a “gap” year to enhance their application – usually due to the competitive nature of admission. A gap year is designed to allow students to gain valuable experience in a clinical or laboratory setting, explore possible career paths, and acquire notable items on their higher education applications. Gap years are often one of the most recommended choices for students looking to apply to notable and respected educational institutions.
Gap Years at HMGS Dermatology
HMGS Dermatology is a university-affiliated dermatology practice with three locations in South Jersey. Our seven physicians and five PAs are members of the clinical faculty at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. We offer paid employment opportunities for students interested in pursuing a clinical gap year experience in the field of dermatology.
Our health sciences students work in our offices as medical scribes and medical navigators, gathering invaluable experience in a professional and state-of-the-art clinical setting. Our gap year students study under some of the most respected dermatology professionals in the South Jersey area and around the country. Publishing opportunities are readily available, as our faculty regularly contributes to medical literature. Our team is happy to help you build your application and acquire insight into the rewarding and specialized field of dermatology.
