On May 15, 2025, we experienced the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Cooper Dermatology and HMGS colleague, Robert F. Duffy, MD. Dr. Duffy (who liked to be called Robby) graduated with Honors from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in 2019. He completed his medical internship at Cooper, followed by his dermatology residency at Cooper, and a subsequent fellowship in pediatric dermatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We were delighted when Dr. Duffy decided to join our practice in August 2024 and become an Assistant Professor of Medicine/Dermatology at Cooper. Dr. Duffy was a brilliant, kind, compassionate, and dedicated physician. His patients and colleagues adored him because of his jovial demeanor, genuine warmth, and desire to deliver the best care possible. His exuberant joy of life made him special, with a passion for travel and culinary delights. His inquisitiveness knew no bounds, always striving for new knowledge, whether in dermatology, cooking, hiking, yoga, or learning a new language. He was an endearing Renaissance man who lived life to the fullest. In his short life he achieved greatness, personally and professionally, making this news difficult for anyone who knew Robby. Robby will be sorely missed and fondly remembered in our hearts.

Dr. Heymann delivered Robby’s eulogy, which you can read here:

In conjunction with Robby’s family and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, we have established the Robert F. Duffy, MD Memorial Fund. This charitable fund will support an annual lectureship in Pediatric Dermatology at Cooper. This unique, educational event will bring the latest in Pediatric Dermatology education to our community. Our hope is that this legacy of learning and paying it forward will honor Robby’s life.
